How are my eggs dollars a dozen?
I find that for my record keeping and do not really know how my chickens lay eggs cost because we never buy eggs or sell them (We use what we can and give the rest to friends and neighbors) * They are kept in a cage with an interior space and a larger area and some outdoor pole * They eat fruits and vegetables * + Layen They lay brown eggs for Most, but some lay a cream-colored shell
I made the same record that you keep. I wanted to know how much it cost me have chickens and see if they were to pay their passage. What you do is, for example, 10 chickens eat a bag of food per week, 1 bag Food prices $ 7 in one week 10 chickens lay about 70 eggs. So it costs you $ 1 per day to feed your chickens. Your eggs are better than the store so that you can ask a little more for them. So if your cost $ 3 for a Dozen Large then you will have 6 dozen eggs per week to sell, you'll get $ 18, you are making a profit. So $ 10 costs 7/week chickens, selling eggs you made $ 18. The chickens are paying themselves. I hope you can understand my calculations, lol.
